The traditional fitting guide was developed over 40 years ago when bras only went up to a D cup.  The female body shape has changed; the rules should too.

Take a look where you think your bra is fitting well and where it could be improved.  You don’t need a tape measure; the actual bra fit is the proof of your ideal size. Of course as with any clothing, nobody’s size is written in stone as all manufacturers vary a little in their size structure.  The style of the bra can sometimes alter the size you need.

British women have the largest breast size in relation to rib dimensions in Europe. The high street seems to neglect this demand but Brastop can help.

• Make sure you have a snug back band that sits horizontally from back to front. Get this right first for ultimate support!
• The wires should sit flat against your chest and comfortably encase your boobs.
• We don’t want to see any over spill or baggy cups. Try a T- Shirt on to check the cups look smooth.
• Finally check your straps are the right tension but not leaving red marks

Look at your best fitting bra and see if there are any potential fitting problems:

Front

·         Central panel sits flat against the rib cage and separates the breasts for support.

·         The under wire sits flat against the rib cage and does not dig into the skin

·         The under wire lies below the breast tissue encasing the breast comfortably.

·         The breast fills the cup with no excess material and no breast tissue spilling over the top, bottom or under the arms.

·         The straps are adjusted to a tension where you can just slip two fingers underneath.

Some simple Fit tips

• Pull your elbows back – there should be no spill over the top of the cup.
• Lift your arms in the air.  The band should stay flat against the rib cage and the breast should stay firmly in the bra cup.
• If you have someone with you, get them to check two finger tensions under the back clasp and shoulder straps.

• Most importantly, how does it feel?  You are the best judge!
